(Q) Who can access Alpha Dental Services?
(A) The service is available to ALL residents of Aged Care Facilities and their immediate relatives, as well as facility staff.
(Q) Who is responsible for associated costs?
(A) This depends on the funding source. In general it is as follows.
- Department of Veterans Affairs for those residents who are DVA Gold Card holders.
- Medicare for those residents who are covered by the CDM scheme.
- State Trustees or other similar financial trustee, for those residents who have such an arrangement in place.
- Those residents with private health insurance are eligible to claim all services delivered and are supplied with appropriate item numbers on all invoices/receipts for reimbursement of costs.
- For those residents with none of the above, we advise that all of our charges are kept well below the norm for these services.
(A) Alpha Dental does not provide services of any nature without consent from a next of kin / guardian or if the resident is able to consent for themselves, then the resident. However, we will accept either written or verbal consent once we have established that the person consenting has the authority to do so.
(Q) How quickly can the dentist come out?
(A) Contact is either made from the facility to Alpha Dental, or, as is more likely, Alpha Dental will contact the facility advising that an examination date is due. A date is set and paperwork is forwarded to the facility for completion. The examination date can be as little as one week from the initial contact. Once the initial examination date is complete, a treatment date is set – usually 4 – 6 weeks later.
